How to Spot a Real Pair of Air Jordans

Between Passion and Caution

Air Jordans are among the most legendary and sought-after sneakers in the world. Whether it’s the Jordan 1, 4, or 11, each model has left its mark on urban culture and fashion. But with popularity comes counterfeiting — the market is flooded with fake pairs, often very convincing. So how do you tell the real from the fake? At WeAreBruxsell, we’re giving you all the keys to avoid getting scammed.

1. Check the Jumpman Logo

The Jumpman logo is often the first visible clue. On fake pairs:

  • The logo may be blurry, off-center, or out of proportion.

  • Details (fingers, ball, leg position) are usually imprecise.

  • It may be stitched or printed with visible flaws.

On a real pair, the logo is sharp, symmetrical, and perfectly finished. On retro models like the Jordan 1, this logo doesn’t always appear outside, but when it does, it must be flawless.

2. Compare the Labels and SKU Code

Every authentic Air Jordan has an inner label with a unique SKU code. This code must:

  • Match the one printed on the box.

  • Be valid for that specific model and colorway.

Search the code on Google: you should find images that match your pair exactly. If the code is incorrect or doesn’t match the model — it’s fake.

3. Inspect the Material Quality

A real Jordan, even a standard release, is made with care:

  • Genuine leather or high-quality nubuck

  • Clean, straight stitching

  • Well-glued sole, no glue stains

  • Padded, comfortable interior

Fakes often use stiff fake leather, poorly glued soles, and low-grade materials. Feel the shoe, inspect it from every angle, and trust your eyes.

4. Examine the Box

A real Air Jordan box should have:

  • The Nike or Jumpman logo, depending on the model

  • A label with the correct SKU, size, barcode

  • Solid cardboard quality, no typos

Fake boxes are often too thin, poorly printed, or contain major spelling errors. A box that’s too light or too glossy is usually a red flag.

5. Beware of Prices That Are Too Good to Be True

A brand new Jordan 1 Retro for €90 when it usually sells for €250? Most likely a scam. Sure, promotions can exist, but major platforms stick to consistent pricing.

Avoid shady sellers on unverified marketplaces. If you want to be sure about your purchase, go with a trusted store like WeAreBruxsell, where every pair is authenticated.

Authenticity Is Everything

Recognizing a real pair of Air Jordans takes a bit of method, observation, and common sense. By following these steps, you’ll avoid nasty surprises and buy (or resell) with confidence.

At WeAreBruxsell, we guarantee the authenticity of every pair. Our sneakers are carefully verified and delivered in their original box. Want to be sure you’re stepping out in the real deal?
